Jubilation in Umuahia as Abia State Police Rescue Four Stolen Kids, Apprehend Suspects
Jubilation in Umuahia as the Abia State Police Command successfully rescued four children abducted on December 16, 2023, from Ubakala Street, Ossah Road. The elation followed the arrest of one Ifeoma Abonyi, the new tenant responsible for the abduction, apprehended in Asaba, Delta State.
A press statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maureen Chinaka, announced the breakthrough, attributing the success to the robust technical intelligence of the Abia Police Command, with crucial support from the Department of State Services (DSS).
The statement revealed that six additional children were found in the custody of the arrested suspects, raising questions about their true identities. The police are considering DNA tests as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, through the PPRO, expressed gratitude to the public and assured that efforts were underway to apprehend three other individuals suspected of complicity in the crime.
Residents of Umuahia celebrated the news, considering it a “Perfect Christmas” gift. Mr. Barry Odinkemmere, a resident, expressed hope that the ongoing investigations would also lead to the recovery of the first set of four kids stolen on November 27 by an unknown tricycle operator.
The Abia State Police Command’s swift action and successful rescue have been widely praised, bringing relief and joy to the state during the festive season.
