Joint Security Team Launches Coordinated Offensive Across Anambra, Arrests Six in Oko, Launches Manhunt for Notorious Gunrunner ‘Kiss Me’

The Anambra State Joint Security Team, comprising operatives of the Nigeria Police and the Anambra State Vigilante Service, has intensified coordinated offensive operations across the three senatorial districts of the state. The latest round of operations in Anambra South Senatorial District resulted in the arrest of six suspects in Oko community, as well as the launch of a manhunt for a notorious cultist and gunrunner known as “Kiss Me,” who is allegedly behind a spate of criminal activities in the area.

The arrests followed targeted actions aimed at dismantling criminal networks and restoring public safety. On the evening of May 19, 2025, two suspects — Anagor Chinedu, 25, and Anagor Rapuluchukwu, 23 — were apprehended at Ifite village, Oko. An English Beretta pistol was recovered during the operation. The suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the Beggars’ Confraternity and identified “Kiss Me” as their armourer. This prompted security operatives to launch a full-scale manhunt for the suspect, who is said to be terrorizing Oko and its environs.

In a related development, four individuals were arrested in connection with the vandalization of electrical infrastructure at the Federal Polytechnic Oko’s permanent site. Acting on a distress call, the operatives swiftly moved to the scene and arrested Chukwuka Usulor, Chukwuemeka Michael, Ikenna Oke, and Ebuka Okeke. Recovered from the suspects were assorted quantities of stolen cable wires.

The Anambra State Command reiterated its commitment to denying criminal elements the space to operate and ensuring the safety and security of all residents.

The development was confirmed by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, in a statement issued in Awka on May 21, 2025.
