Joint Security Forces Clear Criminal Hideouts In Anambra, Recover Nine Explosive Devices, Others

In a coordinated effort to quell rising insecurity in Anambra State, a Joint Security Force successfully raided criminal hideouts in Ogbaru Local Government Area, yielding significant results. Led by the Anambra State Police Command, the operation resulted in the recovery of nine Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and four Walkie Talkies from a forest in Ogbaru.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, revealed in a statement issued on Wednesday that the operation focused on areas around Amiyi and Ochuche, where insurgents were suspected to be hiding. The collaboration between the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, and the police proved pivotal in routing out the criminals from their forest hideouts.

During the extensive operation, numerous camps used by the criminals were located and dismantled. The timely intervention of the Police Bomb Squad ensured the safe defusal of the nine recovered IEDs, averting potential tragedies.

CP Aderemi Adeoye, the Commissioner of Police, expressed gratitude to the military for their unwavering support in the fight against criminal activities. He also commended the efforts of other security agencies, including the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), and various Vigilante Groups for their collaborative efforts, which have significantly contributed to maintaining peace and security in Anambra State.

Furthermore, CP Adeoye issued a stern warning to cultists causing unrest in the state capital, cautioning them that their days of impunity are numbered. He emphasized that security forces will not tolerate any form of destabilization caused by cult rivalries, which have led to tragic fatalities in the past.

The successful operation signifies a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to combat insecurity and restore peace in Anambra State.
