Jigawa: Groom, Three Friends Arrested Over Bride’s Death During Marathon Sex
The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old groom, Auwal Abdulwahab, and three of his friends for allegedly causing the death of his new bride through non-consensual sexual activity.
According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the incident occurred on April 26, 2025, around 10:00 PM in Tungo village, Albasu District, within Sule Tankarkar Local Government Area.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Abdulwahab, together with his friends — Nura Basiru, Muttaka Lawan, and Hamisu Musa — allegedly conspired to forcefully engage the bride in sexual activity at the couple’s matrimonial home, leading to her death. It was reported that the bride had previously disagreed with Abdulwahab regarding marital relations prior to the wedding.
Police officers responded quickly to the scene following a report and evacuated the victim’s body to Gumel General Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed her death. Her body has since been released to her family for burial in accordance with tradition.
The Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Dutse for further investigation. Authorities stated that after the investigation concludes, the suspects will be charged with criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.
