“I’ve Freed You, Bring Out Your Billboards with PDP Logo” — Makinde Tells Oyo Governorship Aspirants
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged those interested in contesting the 2027 governorship election to start their campaigns openly, despite ongoing crises within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing party supporters in Ibadan on Thursday, Makinde said:
“Today, I have freed everyone. Anyone who wants to contest for Oyo State Governor in 2027, please bring out your billboards. Don’t be bothered about the PDP crisis. Go ahead and put the PDP logo on your billboards.”
The PDP has faced a wave of defections since the 2023 elections, losing key members, lawmakers, and governors to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), including Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
Recently, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released the final list of candidates for the August 8, 2026, Osun State governorship election, with both PDP and Labour Party (LP) notably absent.
