JUST IN: Turaki-led PDP files appeal at Supreme Court to restrain Wike faction from holding convention
The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with Kabiru Turaki has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court of Nigeria seeking to stop a planned national convention by a rival group loyal to Nyesom Wike.
The Wike-backed faction is scheduled to hold its convention on March 29 and 30. However, in a filing submitted on Friday, the Turaki-led group asked the apex court to restrain the event pending the resolution of the leadership dispute.
The appeal challenges a recent decision of the court of appeal, which upheld an earlier ruling that nullified the Turaki faction’s national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025.
In its submission, the Turaki-led faction argued that both the federal high court and the court of appeal lacked jurisdiction to entertain the matter, urging the Supreme Court to overturn the lower courts’ decisions.
