It Will Be Tragic If Tinubu Loses in 2027 – Keyamo
Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo has declared that it would be a tragedy if President Bola Tinubu is not reelected in 2027, urging all members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to make his reelection their foremost priority. Speaking during an interview with Channels TV on Monday, Keyamo emphasized that sustaining Tinubu’s policies depends on his return for a second term.
“It will be tragic for any government to come in 2027 and stop all these reforms,” he said, stressing that personal political ambitions should take a backseat to the broader goal of reelecting the president. “I don’t care whether it affects me, I don’t care whether I lose out politically, Mr President must be elected.”
Keyamo referenced internal party decisions, such as recent concessions in Delta State, as necessary sacrifices for the greater good of strengthening the APC and securing Tinubu’s continued leadership. He called on all party members to align their focus toward ensuring continuity of Tinubu’s administration beyond 2027.
His comments come amid mounting criticism of Tinubu’s economic record. A recent report by the International Monetary Fund noted persistently high poverty levels and food inflation in Nigeria. Additionally, the World Bank’s April 2025 Africa Pulse report identified Nigeria as having the highest number of extremely poor people globally, warning that the situation could worsen by 2027 under current conditions.
