Iranian media confirm killing of three IRGC commanders in Israeli strikes

Reports from Iranian media indicate that at least three individuals linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have died in separate incidents attributed to Israeli military action.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had carried out operations resulting in the deaths of IRGC personnel. Iranian outlets, however, described the cases as occurring in different locations and circumstances, without providing full details.

Among those reported dead is Mohammad Reza Kiya, described as a nuclear specialist, who was killed alongside his wife. Saeed Zankaneh, identified as a Basij commander in the Ahvaz region, was also reported killed. A third figure, Abbas Karami, an IRGC commander based in Tehran, was likewise reported dead.

Authorities have not released additional information about how the incidents unfolded, and the circumstances remain unclear.

The IRGC is a major branch of Iran’s armed forces, operating across multiple domains including ground operations, aerospace, naval activity, and special external operations through the Quds Force, as well as the Basij paramilitary network. It reports directly to Iran’s Supreme Leader.
