Iran Warns of Possible Strikes on US Universities in the Middle East
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has warned it could target American university campuses across the Middle East, following claims that recent US-Israeli strikes destroyed two universities in Iran.
In a statement carried by state-affiliated media on Sunday, the Guard said the United States must formally condemn the reported attacks by noon on Monday, March 30, Tehran time, or risk retaliation.
“If the US government wants its universities in the region to be free from retaliation, it must issue an official condemnation,” the statement said.
The warning extended to individuals connected to those institutions. The Guard advised staff, students, and nearby residents to keep at least one kilometre away from affected campuses.
Several American universities operate in the Gulf region, including Texas A&M University’s campus in Qatar and New York University’s branch in the United Arab Emirates.
The threat follows overnight strikes between Friday and Saturday that hit parts of Tehran. Among the locations affected was the Iran University of Science and Technology in the northeastern part of the city. Local media reported damage to buildings but no casualties.
