Iran Confirms Armed Forces Chief of Staff Killed in U.S.–Israeli Strikes

Iran has confirmed that Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, was killed in coordinated air strikes carried out by the United States and Israel, state television reported on Sunday.

According to the official broadcast, Mousavi was among several senior military figures targeted during what Iranian authorities described as a Defence Council meeting. The report also named Iran’s defence minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Mohammad Pakpour, and National Security Council official Ali Shamkhani as casualties.

The strikes mark a severe blow to Iran’s military leadership, raising concerns about the country’s internal command structure and its capacity to respond to further escalation.
