IPMAN Issues Warning of Impending Fuel Sales Shutdown in Anambra State Amid Taxation Dispute with Soludo’s Administration

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN), Enugu Depot, has raised concerns over what it perceives as excessive taxation imposed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration in Anambra State. The association has issued a warning, stating that it may be compelled to cease fuel sales in the state within the next two weeks due to reported attacks on its members.

Chinedu Anyaso, the Chairman of IPMAN, expressed these concerns on Friday after securing his re-election to lead the association for a second three-year term. Anyaso vowed to diligently address the challenges faced by IPMAN members, citing the alleged overtaxing, business restrictions, and arrests by the state government.

Despite multiple attempts to engage with the Anambra State Government on this matter, Anyaso claimed that their efforts have been in vain, with no resolution in sight. He further lamented that some IPMAN members conducting business in Anambra have faced legal actions, including court appearances, imprisonment, or fines, as a result of their resistance to what they perceive as illegal and excessive taxation.

This brewing conflict raises concerns about the potential impact on fuel availability in Anambra State and the wider implications for both the petroleum industry and consumers.
