Full Speech:
Today, we come together to celebrate you—your strength, your courage, and your potential. As we mark the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child, I, Sir CC Onyeze, want to remind you that your future is bright and full of possibilities, regardless of the challenges you may face today.
I know that growing up in Nigeria, especially in some parts of our beloved Anambra and beyond, can be difficult for girls. Many of you face obstacles such as lack of access to quality education, early marriage, and even cultural practices that try to hold you back. You may feel, at times, that society does not hear your voice or recognize your worth. But I am here to tell you—never lose hope.
Every barrier you face is an opportunity to rise above. Your resilience, your intelligence, and your determination are powerful tools that will carry you far beyond the limits others may set for you. Education is your right, not a privilege, and with the right support, you can achieve anything you put your mind to. Whether you aspire to be a doctor, an entrepreneur, an artist, or even a leader, never let anyone tell you that your dreams are out of reach.
At the Onyeze Humanitarian Foundation, we are committed to creating opportunities for you, to ensure that your path forward is a little clearer, a little brighter. We believe that the future of Nigeria depends on the empowerment of its girls. We are working tirelessly to make sure that every girl, no matter where she comes from, has access to the education, healthcare, and support she deserves.
I understand the hardships many of you face—the sacrifices your families make just to give you a chance. But know that you are not alone. There are countless people, like myself and many others, who believe in you. Together, we are building a Nigeria where every girl can thrive, where every girl has the chance to succeed without fear or restriction.
You are the future of our country. Your dreams and ambitions are what will drive Nigeria forward. So, hold on to your dreams, no matter how hard the journey may seem. Stay strong, stay focused, and always remember that you are capable of greatness.
As we celebrate you today, know that I, and the entire team at Onyeze Humanitarian Foundation, stand with you. We are committed to doing our part to ensure that you, the Nigerian girl child, has every opportunity to succeed and build a brighter tomorrow.
Keep shining, keep striving, and always believe in your own power. Your future is limitless, and we believe in you.
