INEC Holds Consultative Meeting with Political Parties Ahead of 2027 Elections; Turaki-led PDP Faction Absent
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its first regular consultative meeting of the year with registered political parties at its Abuja headquarters, marking the start of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The PDP faction led by former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, did not attend the session. In contrast, the rival PDP faction under National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, together with its factional National Chairman Abdul Rahman Mohammed, participated in the meeting.
Representatives from other major parties were also present. Labour Party officials, including National Chairman Nenadi Usman and National Secretary Senator Darlington Nwokocha, attended, as did the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), represented by National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and the party’s National Secretary.
