IMO: Gunmen Kill Pharmacist While Abducting Brother

Gunmen have claimed the life of Henry Ogbuji, a pharmacist hailing from Obile/Egbema LGA. The horrifying event happened on Friday as Ogbuji, the owner of a pharmacy in Owerri, was fatally shot while attempting to pursue the abductors of his elder brother, Sunny Ogbuji.

Sources from the village reveal that upon discovering his brother’s kidnapping, Henry Ogbuji courageously gave chase in his car along the Owerri/Onitsha road expressway. Unfortunately, the armed kidnappers, sensing pursuit, unleashed a barrage of bullets at Ogbuji, leading to his untimely demise.

A witness shared, “I wonder what gave him the impetus to run after kidnappers who were well-armed. It was an unfortunate situation.”

Confirming the tragic incident, Imo State Police spokesperson Henry Okoye stated in a release that the distress call received prompted swift action. Ogbuji was found at Umugada market junction in Irete, lying in a pool of blood with severe chest injuries. Despite immediate efforts to rush him to Federal Medical Center, Owerri, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Okoye assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to apprehend the perpetrators, vowing that they will face the full force of the law. Security measures have also been heightened to prevent similar incidents in the future.
