“I’m Worth Billions, I Cannot Owe N1 Billion” — Ukachukwu Dismisses Debt Allegations, Vows Industrial Revival for Anambra
— Says Governor Soludo Is Merely Distracting the Public from Poor Performance
Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Anambra State, has denied claims that he owes one of his business partners N1 billion. The allegation, which surfaced after Ukachukwu was reportedly harassed at a hotel in Abuja last week, was amplified by a viral video circulated by aides of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
Speaking on Tuesday during the inauguration of the APC state governorship campaign council, Ukachukwu dismissed the claims as a distraction orchestrated by Governor Soludo to shift attention from his administration’s perceived poor performance. “I’m worth billions, I cannot owe N1 billion. The people who are telling you I owe do not have what to say; they want to distract you because they are stealing our money,” Ukachukwu said. He added that discussions about him and his running mate indicate their growing influence, claiming, “If they are not discussing us, it means we are not making an impact.”
On his plans for Anambra State, Ukachukwu outlined initiatives aimed at reviving the state’s economy and industrial sector. He proposed the introduction of agro-chains and promised to create a conducive environment for businesses by ensuring access to affordable energy, electricity, and labor. Ukachukwu referenced a ranking by Philips Consulting that placed Anambra at 33rd in education, governance, and other sectors, emphasizing his commitment to improving the state’s standing.
His running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, urged Anambra residents to support the APC, describing it as an opportunity for the state to reconnect with the federal government and benefit from closer ties to the center.
Mr. Dozie Ikedife Jnr. was appointed Director General of the state campaign organization, tasked with coordinating efforts alongside other senior party members. APC State Chairman Basil Ejidike said the inauguration marked only the beginning of the campaign structure, with zonal, local government, and ward-level councils to follow.
