Ikeja Court Remands Mbaka in Kirikiri Prison for Alleged Defilement of 15-Year-Old Girl
Justice Rahman Oshodi has remanded Mr. Onyeka Mbaka in Kirikiri prison, following allegations of defiling a 15-year-old girl. The court proceedings revealed that the accused, whose residential address remains undisclosed, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought forth by the Lagos government.
State counsel, Bukola Okeowo, representing the prosecution, requested the court to remand Mr. Mbaka pending his bail application and the initiation of the trial. The judge acceded to this request and adjourned the case until March 22, 2024, for the commencement of the trial.
Ms. Okeowo informed the court of the prosecution’s intent to present three witnesses to substantiate the charges against the defendant. The alleged incident occurred in March 2023 in the Ilasa area of Lagos, contravening Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
