“Igbos Are Hypocrites; They Ignore Killings in the South East Since 2015 but Cry More for Benue, Plateau Victims” – Joe Igbokwe
APC chieftain, Joe Igbokwe, has sparked strong reactions online following a Facebook post in which he accused people from the South East of ignoring violence within their own region while being vocal about killings in other parts of Nigeria.
In the strongly worded statement, Igbokwe expressed disappointment over what he described as selective outrage, noting that internal violence in Igboland has been largely overlooked by the same voices now speaking out about attacks in Benue and Plateau states.
He wrote:
“Hypocrites everywhere. From 2015 till date Igbo have been killing Igbo and burning their homes. Our people kept mute. Now these people are shedding more tears than the people of Benue and Plateau, shouting up and down. Yeye people.”
The post has ignited debate across social media platforms, with some agreeing with his stance on internal accountability, while others condemned the message as inflammatory and divisive.
Joe Igbokwe, a notable member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is well known for his outspoken political views and controversial commentary.
