“If anybody picks you, give them my number” — Oyedepo tells members to contact him if abducted
The Founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has instructed members of his congregation to share his phone number with kidnappers in the event of an abduction, saying they should direct captors to reach him.
He made the statement during a church service at the Canaanland headquarters of the church in Ota, Ogun State. The message later spread online after a video clip from the service circulated on social media.
“If anybody picks you, give them my number, give them my number,” Oyedepo said while addressing worshippers.
He framed the instruction as part of what he described as spiritual authority available to members of the church, insisting that such situations should be escalated to him directly.
Explaining his claim, he referred to past incidents involving abducted church members. In one case, he said a pastor of the church was kidnapped and he was handed the abductors’ phone during the incident.
“I said, give them the phone. I said, in 24 hours, if you don’t take him out, you are dead,” he said, adding that the situation “vibrated on the spot.”
In another account, he said a female member abducted in a separate incident declared she would be released by 7 a.m. without any direct negotiation with the kidnappers.
“She said, my father said, I’m getting out of here latest by 7 a.m. They didn’t call. They started cutting themselves,” he said, describing what he presented as the outcome of the situation.
Oyedepo told members that they already possessed authority over such threats but needed to understand and act on it.
“You have been raised far above the devil,” he said. “If the church does not conquer these devils, God has left heaven.”
The clip, shared under the hashtag #SupersonicSunday by church media accounts, began trending days after the service before gaining w
