“I Won’t Resign, Even If Trump Asks” – Fed Chair Jay Powell
In the wake of Donald Trump’s re-election as President of the United States, Federal Reserve Chairman Jay Powell has firmly stated he will not step down, even if requested by the president-elect. Powell’s comments came during a press conference where he addressed questions regarding his future at the Federal Reserve under Trump’s leadership.
When asked by a reporter if he would leave his position should Trump call for his resignation, Powell replied simply, “No.” This unequivocal response underscores Powell’s intention to continue his role, despite potential political pressure.
Trump, the Republican candidate, won a decisive victory over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, securing 295 electoral college votes to Harris’s 226. The election results mark a significant return to office for Trump, setting the stage for renewed focus on economic policy and interest rate discussions at the Federal Reserve.
