“I Want to Go to Paradise,” Man Says as He Sets Himself on Fire in Kano
A shocking incident occurred in Panshekara, a community in Kano State, where a young man, Suleiman Muntari, set himself ablaze in broad daylight after declaring his intention to “go to Paradise.”
Eyewitnesses described Muntari as visibly distressed, wandering the streets and muttering to himself moments before the act. He then poured petrol on his body and struck a match, igniting himself before anyone could intervene.
“He said he wanted to go to Paradise. People thought he was just venting frustration. Nobody imagined he would actually go through with it,” said Saminu Isah, who witnessed the scene unfold.
Despite desperate attempts by onlookers to put out the flames, the fire spread too quickly to save him. Residents say he may have been under the influence of a substance, noting erratic behavior and a strong smell coming from him.
“It was clear something was wrong. He wasn’t in his right mind,” said Aisha Salisu, who lives nearby.
