“I Have Never Thought About Suicide, But Now It Is Coming to My Head” – Bobrisky Opens Up About Mental Health Struggles Amid Corruption Allegations
Popular Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has shared his struggles with suicidal thoughts, a situation he attributes to the overwhelming negative actions of others affecting his mental health. This admission comes amid serious allegations involving bribery and corruption related to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The controversy intensified following the release of a video by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan. In the clip, Bobrisky purportedly confessed to bribing EFCC officials with N15 million to dismiss money laundering charges against him. The video has triggered widespread reactions and placed Bobrisky back in the public spotlight.
Despite facing backlash, Bobrisky refrained from directly addressing the bribery claims but expressed that the hostility he faces from others has deeply impacted him. In a statement, he described the viral recording as “fake” and insisted he did not pay any money to the EFCC. He emphasized that he served his full six-month prison sentence for a previous charge related to currency abuse and clarified that he is not seeking sympathy but rather understanding and support.
Adding to the drama, the video also accused renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, Folarin Falana, known as Falz, of soliciting N10 million to secure a presidential pardon for Bobrisky. Both have since issued legal demands for a retraction and public apology from VeryDarkMan.
On Thursday, Bobrisky opened up further about his mental health struggles, stating, “I have never in my life thought about suicide, but now it is coming to my head seeing what human beings are doing to their fellow humans just in the name of wanting to bring them down or because they don’t like them.” He conveyed a sense of isolation, remarking that the only sympathy he longs for is from his late parents, adding, “But who will fight for you? Friends? HATERS YOU WON.”
