SSS Officer Allegedly Defiles 12-Year-Old Girl in Benue

An officer of the State Security Service (SSS) has been accused of allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in his office in Benue State.

In a video shared on X on Friday, the minor told social media activist VeryDarkMan in Abuja that the officer raped her on four occasions and warned her not to tell anyone.

The girl’s mother said she often sent her daughter to grind food near the SSS office, where one of the officers allegedly approached her and said he liked her and wanted her to be his girlfriend.

She further said, “He told my daughter to enter inside, remove her clothes and lie on the bed. She said the man then removed his clothes and told her to spread her legs, before penetrating her. She said when she got up, she saw one white thing on the bed.”

Reiterating her mother’s account, the girl confirmed she had been raped four times and added that the officer kept his gun in the room. When asked why she didn’t report the incident after the first time, she said the officer warned her not to tell her mother and that she was scared because of the gun.

The mother disclosed that the abuse came to light after her daughter misbehaved and was about to be disciplined. Her husband’s sister, who lives near the SSS office and was present at the time, stopped her from beating the child, suggesting that something serious was going on.

According to the mother, the sister-in-law said she had once seen the girl entering the officer’s office while she was selling water nearby. She added that she initially kept quiet about the incident out of fear of being sent back to the village, especially because the accused was a uniformed officer.

The mother stated that the matter was first reported on July 16, 2025, to her brother-in-law’s wife, who is also an SSS officer. Upon hearing the details, she promised to escalate the issue to a superior officer. She also advised that the child be taken to a general hospital, where doctors confirmed the girl had been deflowered.

She said they were later invited to the SSS office, where both mother and daughter narrated the incident to senior officers, who assured them that an investigation would follow. While still at the premises, the girl led them to the office where the alleged rape occurred.
