I have Earned the Right to a Second Term, Obaseki Boasts
Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki has declared that he has earned the right to a second term in office.
Obaseki stated this when he received members of the Benin Unity League at the government house in Benin city on Thursday.
The governor said though no one individual can determine who becomes the governor of the state except God and the people but is certain of victory in the next gubernatorial election in the state.
“I have said it clearly and I told my cabinet yesterday that second term for me is non-negotiable.
“I am demanding it because I deserve it and I think I have earned it. We need to have it so we can continue what we are doing today” Obaseki said.
“I want to assure you that, this is a fight that we will prevail. We will fight and succeed.
“If anybody thinks I will back out, he must be daydreaming because it is not my fight, it is about fighting for the right thing and cause.
“I am not going to back off because I know victory is sure,” he added.
In his remarks the president of the group, Dr. Gregory Osa said no amount of mischief can remove Obaseki from office. He blamed the political crisis in the state on the selfish motives of some politicians.
“You are providing an enabling environment to make Edo an industrial hub.
“We are particularly interested in your push to develop the Benin River Port and make Benin Airport an international Airport.
“You will not only win the battle, but you will also win the war,“ he said
