Husband Arrested in Ekiti for Flogging Wife to Death Over Farm Dispute
A tragic incident has occurred in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, where a woman, identified as Modupe Alasin, reportedly lost her life after being brutally beaten by her husband. Witnesses said the assault happened following a disagreement over her alleged lateness to the farm.
According to an eyewitness who asked not to be named, Modupe cried out in pain and pleaded for mercy as her husband flogged her repeatedly. Shortly after, he allegedly instructed her to fetch water from a nearby stream, but she collapsed and died by its side due to exhaustion and injuries sustained.
Confirming the development, the Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti State Police Command, SP Sunday Abutu, said the suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody while investigations continue.
