How we will get Tinubu out of power in 2027 — ADC
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that its central goal ahead of the 2027 general election is to remove President Bola Tinubu from office.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made this known on Friday during an appearance on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme.
According to Abdullahi, the ADC believes that a change in leadership is necessary to restore effective governance in the country.
“We want to get Tinubu out of power. That is the only way we can get our country back,” he said, noting that the party’s position was based on conviction rather than desperation.
He alleged that the country’s democratic institutions had been undermined, accusing those in government of conduct he described as inconsistent with the rule of law.
Abdullahi cited what he claimed were unprecedented developments, including allegations that a law properly passed by the National Assembly was later altered. He described such an action as a serious breach of legislative integrity.
He also criticised reports that the Nigerian government spent $9 million on lobbyists in the United States to improve its image before US President Donald Trump, questioning the rationale behind the expenditure.
The ADC official said these issues formed part of the party’s motivation to challenge the ruling government in the 2027 elections.
