How RCCG Pastor Was Arrested Abroad for Greeting ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’ – Pastor Adeboye
Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has raised concerns about the decline in global moral values. During the church’s monthly thanksgiving program at the Throne of Grace in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, Pastor Adeboye shared a troubling story about one of his pastors being arrested abroad for simply addressing a gathering with the words “ladies and gentlemen.” The pastor’s action was reportedly deemed discriminatory by some, who questioned why those who do not identify as either ladies or gentlemen were not acknowledged.
In his sermon on “My Father’s House,” Adeboye warned that the world was experiencing a moral decline, stressing that the end times were approaching. He urged Christians to stay firm in their faith, reminding them that the worsening state of affairs should serve as a wake-up call. “The end is nearer than you think,” he said. “Things are getting worse, and this is a wake-up call.”
Pastor Adeboye also shared a disturbing account of a woman who referred to her dog as her husband. When asked about her spouse, the woman explained that she had taken him to the vet before arriving at the event. She described her “husband” as a very handsome dog, raising further concerns about the erosion of moral values in society. He stated, “Brethren, we are closer to the end than ever before.”
The RCCG leader urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and avoid being swayed by the moral decline surrounding them. He stressed that the commitment to God should be sincere and unwavering, warning against superficial displays of faith. “Those still playing church—singing, clapping, and enjoying things without genuine commitment—remember, Jesus is coming back,” he reminded the congregation. “The devil wants to harvest you, but you must not give him the opportunity.”
Reflecting on the past, Adeboye noted that earlier generations were more respectful of God’s commandments and lived morally upright lives. He called on Christians to return to those values, urging them to take their faith seriously and stay true to the teachings of Christ.
