How NSCDC Rescued Kogi Undergraduate from Alleged Ritualists in Kwara
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has successfully rescued Fauziyah Mohammed, a 19-year-old student from Kogi State University, Ayingba, who was allegedly abducted by ritualists. Fauziyah, a final-year English Education student, was reportedly hypnotized in Kogi State and later abandoned in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Dr. Umar Mohammed, Commandant of the NSCDC in Kwara, revealed that the victim was found by residents of the Ajegunle-Isale community along Egbejila Road. She was discovered wandering naked and in a disoriented state. The community members quickly handed her over to NSCDC personnel.
According to the commandant, Fauziyah appeared incoherent in speech, hinting at traumatic experiences during her captivity. The command provided her with clothing and comfort, while also notifying Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. The governor has assured assistance in ensuring her safe return to Kogi State.
During an interrogation, Fauziyah shared that she could not remember how she ended up in Kwara. She recounted a faint memory of losing consciousness after attempting to pick up a dropped book. The NSCDC plans to release her to Mallam Salihu Aliu, a family representative delegated to ensure her return.
Meanwhile, the command also paraded a suspect, Abu Usman Soja, accused of being an informant for kidnappers in the Ajase-Ipo area. His group is alleged to have abducted a woman and her two children on November 7, demanding an initial ransom of N50 million, which was later reduced to N15 million. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend Soja’s accomplices, who remain at large.
