How I Was Duped by a Fake Recruiter Promising Me a Commandant Role – Pastor Enoch Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shared a cautionary tale about being misled by an individual who falsely promised him a prestigious position within a new paramilitary organization.

In a post on his X handle on Monday, Adeboye recounted how he was duped by a man who posed as a recruiter for the agency. The man convinced Adeboye to invest in the venture under the guise of offering him a commandant role.

Reflecting on the incident, Adeboye admitted that his long-standing fascination with the military clouded his judgment. Despite his usual practice of seeking divine guidance before committing to ventures, he was swayed by his desire to lead and acted hastily.

He explained, “Years ago, I was deceived by a man who promised me a position as the commandant of a paramilitary group. This man had been contacting me through my secretary, and eventually, I agreed to meet him. He detailed how a Boy Scouts-like organization had evolved into this new group, and he claimed to be seeking a spiritual leader.”

Adeboye noted that he invested funds in the project, only to later discover that the recruiter was a fraud. Despite the financial loss, he acknowledged that the experience inadvertently led to the establishment of the Redemption City corps and a local police post.

“This experience taught me a valuable lesson,” Adeboye said. “Although I lost money, others could have faced far greater consequences. Ultimately, God’s plan for Redemption City was to have its own corps of chaplains and a police post, and it was fulfilled in His own timing.”
