How Gunmen in Fake Police Uniform Robbed Victim of Millions in Kwara State

In a shocking incident that unfolded on Tuesday afternoon in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, a daring trio of armed robbers, disguised in fake police uniforms, orchestrated a brazen attack on an unidentified man, making off with a substantial sum of money.

The incident occurred near Lajorin Street, close to the State High Court area in the capital city, according to reliable sources. The three robbers, armed with A-K 47 rifles, had apparently been trailing their victim, a man believed to be around 60 years old. The victim had just collected a substantial amount of money from a nearby commercial bank when he fell prey to this meticulously planned heist.

Residents, still in a state of shock, gathered around the crime scene when our correspondent arrived at approximately 6:50 pm. Eyewitnesses were discussing the astonishingly brief yet high-impact attack.

One witness, who opted to remain anonymous, recounted the incident, stating, “It was like a movie. The robbers rode in an ash-colored Toyota Corolla 2016 model while dressed as police officers. Initially, I thought they were legitimate law enforcement officers, and I assumed the victim might be involved in some illicit activity, as they were telling him to cooperate. It was only later that I realized they were, in fact, ruthless armed robbers, and I managed to discreetly escape from the scene.”

The witness continued, “The robbers intercepted the victim, who was driving a metallic green Toyota Corolla 2006 model, after he was trailed from FCMB in Murtala. They demanded the money at gunpoint. The victim appeared stunned, with the gun pointed at him, and the robbers swiftly took the money, which was later confirmed to be in the millions, from his car before making their getaway.”

The victim, deeply shaken by the harrowing encounter, was initially too stunned to utter a word. It was only after the robbers had made a clean escape that he began desperately calling for help.

Despite several attempts to reach Ajayi Okasanmi, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, for an official statement on the incident, no response was received by the time of this report on Tuesday night. The incident has left the community shaken and serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance in the face of such audacious criminal acts.
