Hilda Baci Sets Third Guinness World Record
Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has added a third Guinness World Record (GWR) to her achievements, following her record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
In September 2025 Baci prepared 200 portions of jollof rice in a nine-hour open-air cooking session at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, using 20-kg bags of rice. GWR later confirmed her record for the “largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.”
On Tuesday, Baci shared on Instagram an email from GWR, signed by Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering, Records Creative Team. The email confirmed that the chef also set the record for the “largest serving of rice” during the same attempt.
Fanning wrote:
“Congratulations, you are officially amazing (again)! When comparing the record guidelines for the two titles, you and your team achieved the ‘Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice’ and also accomplished the record for ‘Largest serving of rice.’ Many congratulations from me on behalf of Guinness World Records.”*
Baci described the new record as a reminder that achievements can continue to unfold unexpectedly. She credited her success to her faith and expressed excitement at starting 2026 with another GWR title.
“I woke up a three-time Guinness World Records holder and was completely caught off guard. When we broke the Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, I thought that was it. I didn’t realize we had also set the record for the largest serving of rice overall. That day turned out to be two records in one,” Baci said.
She also acknowledged her team and collaborators, highlighting Oreoluwa Atinmo’s role in bringing the project to completion, and thanked everyone who supported the effort.
This latest record brings Baci’s total GWR titles to three. She first entered the GWR stage in June 2023 when she set a record for the longest individual cooking marathon, surpassing 100 hours of continuous cooking over four days. That record was later overtaken by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who cooked for nearly 120 hours.
Baci’s continued achievements reaffirm her position as a leading figure in culinary innovation and a prominent representative of Nigerian cuisine on the global stage.
