High-Stake Battles in Bayelsa, Imo, Kogi States as Governorship Elections Kick Off

Bayelsa state: Today marks the day for Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi residents to decide their state’s fate with new leadership. The APC seeks to reclaim Bayelsa, once won but later invalidated by the Supreme Court, while Governor Diri, labeled a “miracle governor,” eyes a second term.

Imo State: In Imo, Governor Hope Uzodinma faces opposition from the PDP’s Samuel Anyanwu and the LP’s Athan Achonu, with challenges of insecurity gripping the state. Uzodinma’s tenure, awarded by the Supreme Court, is embattled by security concerns as non-state actors control parts of the region.

Kogi State: In Kogi, Governor Yahaya Bello’s likely successor, Ododo Usman Ahmed of the APC, contends with formidable opponents like the PDP’s Dino Melaye and the SDP’s Murtala Yakubu Ajaka in a crowded race to claim the state’s governance.
