He is not a Police Officer, he is an informant

The identity of the man who was loudly heard in a viral video molesting a lady in Ibadan few days ago has been exposed. He is Tope Owoeye, a police informant.

Tope, whom many people thought was a police officer in the viral video, was seen in the video harassing the lady, who claimed to have graduated from the University of Ibadan.

Unknown to many, Tope is a police informant but parades himself as a police officer attached to the Abba Kyari led team of the Inspector General of Police Mornitoring Team, known as IRT.

During the humiliation, Tope was heard loudly asking the lady unprofessional questions in the video.

He is well known in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, and in some of the neighbouring states for his link with top kidnap kingpins and armed robbers having been speculated to be a cultist during his student days at Federal Polytechnic, Offa, where he claims to have studied accounting.

Tope Owoeye, known in the social circles, as Wyclef, was so boastful of himself and his nickname in the viral video that he kept asking the robbery suspect if he has heard of him in the past.

Tope frequents gatherings of local musicians and artistes from where he gathers information which he passes on to assist the police track undesirable elements in the society.

He is said not to have a visible means of livelihood aside from being an informant, and an ex cultist whom many people believe exposed him to know many criminals in his area of jurisdiction. When probed, he claims to be based in London where he does his business.

It has been reported that Tope and his other police informants, who were on the run have been arrested and detained at Zone II, Police headquarters, in Onikan, Lagos, based on the orders of Inspector General of Police, for their involvement in the humiliation of the young girl in Ibadan.
