Hardship: Remi Tinubu, Ribadu to Lead National Prayers

In a concerted effort to address Nigeria’s ongoing challenges, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu will lead a nationwide prayer initiative. The sessions, organized with support from both Christian and Muslim communities, are expected to unite Nigerians in seeking divine intervention to address the country’s socio-economic and security issues.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, Chief Segun Balogun Afolorunikan, Director General of the National Prayer Forum (NPF), revealed that the event, themed “Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs,” underscores the importance of collective action. “Unity is essential for overcoming our challenges and achieving lasting solutions,” he stated.

Prayer Venues and Schedules Announced

The week-long interfaith event will bring both Muslim and Christian worshippers together at significant religious venues in the capital. Muslims will gather at the National Mosque, where 313 participants will recite the Qur’an daily, with the goal of completing the holy text 2,191 times throughout the week to pray for national stability.

Meanwhile, Christians will convene at the National Ecumenical Centre, where prayer warriors from various denominations will engage in focused prayers for the nation’s well-being and resilience.

Outreach Efforts for National Unity

To ensure widespread support, Afolorunikan noted that extensive outreach has been conducted with religious and traditional leaders. Meetings have taken place with key figures including representatives from the National Mosque, the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and the Sultan of Sokoto, as well as other traditional leaders.

“We are hopeful that by the end of these prayer sessions, Nigeria will enter 2025 with a renewed sense of purpose and stability,” Afolorunikan expressed. He underscored that with a united front, Nigerians could face the future with resilience and a shared determination to address the country’s challenges.
