El-Rufai: “Ribadu Is Planning for Himself in 2031 and for Tinubu in 2027” — Amaechi
Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has alleged that the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, is positioning himself for a presidential bid in 2031 while also working to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Amaechi made the remarks during a live phone-in programme on Eagles Radio. The comments were later shared on X by Dele Momodu, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He dismissed allegations that former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai hacked Ribadu’s phone, stating that El-Rufai lacked the capacity to do so. Instead, Amaechi alleged that security agencies monitor communications.
According to him, Ribadu is pursuing what he described as “double elections” — supporting Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 while preparing for his own presidential ambition in 2031.
Amaechi also claimed there are efforts to weaken the ADC through internal disputes and ongoing court cases, alleging the existence of factions within the party.
He insisted that the 2027 elections would be credible and urged the National Security Adviser to focus on his official duties.
