Hamas Agrees to Release All Israeli Hostages Under Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan
Hamas has announced it will release all Israeli hostages—both living and deceased—as part of a peace proposal put forward by U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza.
In a statement released Friday, the militant group said it is ready to “immediately engage in negotiations through mediators to discuss details of this matter.” Hamas also expressed willingness to transfer Gaza’s administration to an independent technocratic body “based on Palestinian national consensus and Arab and Islamic support.”
The statement emphasized that other aspects of Trump’s proposal, including the long-term governance of Gaza and Palestinian national rights, would be addressed within a “comprehensive Palestinian national framework” supported by international law.
Hamas’s acceptance came just hours after President Trump issued a stern ultimatum, warning that failure to respond by Sunday evening would result in “all HELL, like no one has ever seen before.”
Unveiled Monday, Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace roadmap calls for an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages within 72 hours, and the establishment of a non-partisan Palestinian committee to govern Gaza. The plan also proposes the creation of an international “board of peace” to oversee implementation.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu endorsed the proposal earlier this week, describing it as one that “fulfills Israel’s war goals.”
