“Hackers Stole N180 Million From My NGO Account” – VeryDarkMan
Nigerian blogger Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has revealed a shocking security breach in which hackers allegedly stole N180 million from his non-governmental organization’s (NGO) account. The announcement was made on Friday through his Instagram account, where he disclosed that a suspect has already been apprehended in connection with the crime.
Otse explained that the hacked account has been placed on Payment Network Disconnection (PND) status. He further detailed that N160 million was transferred to an undisclosed account, while N20 million remains within the compromised account.
The breach occurred shortly after the launch of the Martins Vincent Osei Initiative in October, which garnered over N35 million in donations within hours. Among subsequent contributions was a generous N100 million donation from renowned music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy.
Speaking in an emotional video, Otse shared his frustration and determination to recover the stolen funds. “For the past few days, I’ve not been myself,” he said, confirming that he was traveling with law enforcement officers to Jos, where investigations have led to the arrest of a suspect.
“The NGO money, somebody hacked into the NGO website, and I don’t know how they did it. N180 million naira is missing. Thank God we tracked the person, and we are on our way to Jos,” Otse stated.
He also revealed steps being taken to safeguard the organization, including temporarily shutting down the NGO’s app for maintenance. “Hopefully, we get the money back,” he assured his supporters.
