Gunmen Stage Brazen Attack, Abduct 23, Including Former PDP Ward Chairman in FCT Community

In the early hours of Thursday, approximately 40 gunmen raided Kawu Community in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, abducting 23 individuals, including a prominent figure, Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu, a former Ward Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The assailants, believed to have originated from the Kuyeri Forest in Kaduna State, targeted the community that shares borders with Kaduna and Niger states. Among the victims were the wife and son of the District Head, Alhaji Abdurrahman Danjuma Ali, along with Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu and his four children.

Providing insight into the horrifying incident, the Deputy Speaker of the council and community councillor, Abdulmumini Zakari, disclosed that the gunmen, operating in coordinated groups, infiltrated the palace of the District Head, abducting his recently married son, Lukman, and his wife. Simultaneously, Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu and his four children fell victim to another group of attackers.

The bandits extended their reach to Sarkin Pawan Kawu, Gambo Pawa, abducting him, his two wives, and several children from his compound.

Efforts to obtain a response from the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, proved unsuccessful as she did not respond to calls or texts from our correspondent at the time of filing this report.
