Gunmen Seize Two Buses on Kogi Road, Kidnap Passengers; Driver Escapes with Injuries
On Saturday, unidentified gunmen targeted God Is Good Motors and ABC transport buses traveling from Kogi State to Abuja, kidnapping numerous passengers. As of the latest update, the exact number of abducted individuals remains unconfirmed.
Social media played a crucial role in spreading awareness, with influencer Chude Nnamdi sharing details on Twitter. One post relayed a distressing account from an individual whose wife was among those abducted in the God Is Good Motors bus. The kidnappers allegedly demanded a ransom of N15 million.
Nnamdi urged the public to raise awareness, stating, “Passengers in 2 loaded buses were kidnapped, and everywhere is just quiet like it’s nothing: is this the new normal? A whole 2 buses!”
Eyewitnesses shared chilling details of the incident, revealing that the buses were seized around 3 pm along Olamaboro LGA, not far from the police checkpoint. The God Is Good Motors driver managed to escape, albeit with severe injuries.
On Monday, the spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating, “Yes, the incident happened, but the DPO, local vigilantes, and hunters have been in the bush in an effort to rescue the victims.”
The police have intensified efforts, deploying additional tactical units, including the Quick Response Unit, Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, and conventional personnel, to the area for a comprehensive search and rescue mission. The goal is to ensure the safe and prompt recovery of all victims.
