Gunmen Kill One, Abduct Another in Anambra Amid Governor’s Amnesty Declaration
Gunmen attacked two men in Ifitedunu community, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Tuesday night, killing one and abducting the other. The victims, who were traveling in a Nissan SUV with Lagos registration number SMK 439 HJ, were ambushed during the incident.
The attack occurred the same day Governor Chukwuma Soludo declared a crackdown on criminal activities in the state while extending amnesty to repentant criminals.
A video of the aftermath, now circulating on social media, shows the lifeless body of one victim inside the vehicle, while the driver was reportedly abducted. Witnesses from the Ifitedunu community vigilante group said the incident took place around 8 p.m.
According to an eyewitness in the video, the attackers, driving an ash-colored Lexus Jeep, chased the victims from a neighboring community into Ifitedunu. Items found in the car suggest the victims were likely returning home for the Christmas holiday.
The vigilante group urged anyone familiar with the vehicle or its occupants to identify them.
As of the time of this report, the Anambra State Police Command had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
