Gunmen Kill Miyyeti Allah Chairman in Plateau
The Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, Muhammad Adamu, was shot and killed by gunmen on Wednesday evening. According to the Plateau State Chairman of the association, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, the attack occurred shortly after Adamu had broken his fast at his residence in Barkin Ladi town.
Babayo condemned the killing and called on security agencies to immediately investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
A community youth leader, Alhaji Danjuma Ibrahim, also confirmed the incident and disclosed that the victim’s body was taken to the Barkin Ladi General Hospital, where preparations are underway for his burial on Thursday. Ibrahim noted that this was not the first time Adamu had been targeted, recalling two previous assassination attempts that he had survived.
Describing the attack as tragic, Ibrahim said the gunmen fired multiple shots at the MACBAN chairman before fleeing the scene. He added that security forces, including police and soldiers, responded promptly and were present when Adamu was rushed to the hospital.
The youth leader expressed sorrow over the loss, highlighting Adamu’s contributions to peacebuilding in the Barkin Ladi area. He said the community would remember him for his role in promoting stability and harmony.
Efforts to reach Plateau Police spokesperson DSP Alabo Alfred for comment were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
