Gunmen Kill Eight Travelers, Including Driver, on Taraba State Road
On Monday morning, at least eight individuals were killed by gunmen on the Takum-Chanchanji Road in Takum Local Government Area, Taraba State, North-East Nigeria.
The victims were reportedly traveling towards Wukari Local Government Area when their vehicle came under attack between Chanchanji village in Takum and Saa’yi Village in Benue State. Eyewitnesses indicate that all passengers and the driver were killed, yet their belongings remained untouched.
This road has recently gained notoriety for its association with criminal activities and attacks on travelers. Notably, three weeks ago, gunmen killed the Third-Class Chief of Chanchanji, Tanimu Kumbiya, and his son on the same route as they returned from a burial ceremony.
At the time of this report, the Taraba State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
