Gunmen Hijack Fully Loaded Bus, Abduct All Passengers
By Arthur Maduka
A Benue Links commercial bus was hijacked on Sunday evening by suspected gunmen at Eke, a community along the Otukpo-Otukpa road in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State. The attackers reportedly intercepted the vehicle around 6:30 p.m., robbed all passengers of their belongings, and abducted them into the nearby forest.
The bus, identified by its registration number 14B-143BN, was transporting travellers when the armed men laid an ambush. Eyewitness accounts suggest the victims were taken at gunpoint into the bush after the robbery.
Benue State APC Chairman, Comrade Austin Agada, is said to have arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and immediately alerted security agencies. His prompt action triggered a rapid deployment of military and police personnel, who launched search-and-rescue efforts.
Security operations are ongoing, with authorities working to locate and rescue the kidnapped passengers.
