Gunmen Fatally Shoot POS Operator in Imo

Gunmen have mercilessly taken the life of a point of sale (POS) operator in Mgbala Agwa, Oguta Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo state. The victim, identified as Stanley Ojinaka, met his untimely demise on Monday morning while attending to customers at his shop.

The motive behind Ojinaka’s murder remains unclear, but a source in the village suggested a possible connection with a previous encounter he had with notorious youths in the area. Ojinaka, a native of Umuesigbala in Agwa community, had been running his shop for many years.

According to a local source, the assailants did not demand money, leading to speculation that the attack might be linked to ongoing tensions between Ojinaka and troublesome local youths. The source disclosed, “Those who killed him intentionally did so because it was said that they didn’t demand for any money if they were actually armed robbers.”

Jumho Obinna, the coordinator of Oguta South Development Centre, expressed deep regret over the incident, describing it as horrible. He assured the community that both government and the police would intervene to identify and bring Ojinaka’s killers to justice.

Despite the unsettling incident, Obinna urged residents to remain calm and refrain from taking matters into their own hands. When contacted for comment, Henry Okoye, the spokesperson of the Imo police command, stated that he is yet to receive information on the tragic incident.
