Gunmen Attack Family Members of Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas
Gunmen, suspected to be bandits, attacked Jumai Kefas, the mother of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, and her daughter, Atsi Kefas, on Thursday. The incident occurred along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area of the state.
The Chairman of Wukari Local Government Council, Dauda Samaila Agbu, confirmed the attack and expressed deep concern over the incident. He disclosed that Atsi Kefas sustained a gunshot wound during the assault. She was initially treated at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Wukari before being airlifted to Abuja for further medical attention. The chairman assured residents that her condition was stabilized before the transfer.
Authorities have called for calm, with efforts underway to apprehend those responsible for the attack. The Taraba State Police Command also confirmed the incident. Its Public Relations Officer, Usman Abdullahi, described the attack as an armed robbery but did not confirm the victims’ relationship to the governor.
Abdullahi noted that one of the vehicle’s occupants sustained gunshot injuries. No official statement has been released by the state government regarding the attack as of the time of this report.
