Gunmen suspected of being kidnappers ambushed the wife of a Delta State lawmaker, Mrs. Christy Uroye, on Jakpan Road in Uvwie Local Government Area on Monday evening. The attack resulted in the deaths of two mobile policemen and a driver who were escorting Mrs. Uroye.
The ambush occurred around 7 p.m., with witnesses reporting that the security personnel and driver were killed instantly. The assailants then abducted Mrs. Uroye. However, their escape was thwarted when their vehicle crashed, allowing Mrs. Uroye to flee.
A distressing video circulating on social media shows the aftermath of the attack, including the fallen policemen and the chaotic scene around Mrs. Uroye’s SUV.
Mrs. Uroye is currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital. Authorities have confirmed that she is under medical care while the investigation continues.
State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident, stating that the operation was ultimately unsuccessful. A manhunt has been launched for the suspects involved.
