Gunmen Abduct 20 Travellers Along Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway
Approximately 20 travellers were reportedly kidnapped by gunmen along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway on Sunday at around 9 PM. The ambush occurred between the Sagamu Area Command of the Nigeria Police and Ilisan township.
Wemmy Osude, Chairman of the Ilisan Development Council, informed newsmen that the abduction took place between the Area Command and the Ilisan City Gate. Osude shared that a resident of Ilisan, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was shot in the knee during the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment at Babcock Teaching Hospital. The other victims were taken into the bush by the assailants.
Osude urged the public to exercise caution and to reach out to their loved ones who might be traveling along the expressway. He also confirmed that he had communicated with the Sagamu Police Area Commander regarding the incident and expressed hope that security agents would act swiftly to apprehend the criminals and rescue the kidnapped individuals.
