Gunmen Kill One of Two Doctors Abducted in Edo State, Dump Body in River
Tahir Abu Emhoye, a recent medical graduate from Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has been killed following his abduction along with his elder brother, Abu Ibrahim Babatunde, on January 1, 2026.
The two doctors were kidnapped around 7:30 pm at the gate of their home on City Pride Road, Igbira Camp, as they returned from work. On January 3, the kidnappers reportedly contacted the family, demanding N200 million for their release.
Tahir Abu Emhoye, who previously served as Director of Sports at the AAU Students’ Union Government, was found dead near a river after security agencies conducted a search of nearby bushes and forests. Family members confirmed his identity.
The Edo State Police Command, through Public Relations Officer ASP Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the discovery of the body. Abu Ibrahim Babatunde, who is currently completing his housemanship at Edo University Teaching Hospital, Auchi, remains in captivity as authorities continue the search.
