JUST IN: Former Chief of Defence Staff is Dead
Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi, a former Chief of Defence Staff, has passed away following a brief illness. Sources close to the family disclosed that the Admiral had been battling age-related ailments in recent weeks before his demise at his residence in Abuja early this Sunday morning.
Confirming the sad news, a family spokesperson stated, “Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi passed on to glory a few minutes ago, early Sunday morning.”
Admiral Ogohi served as the Chief of Defence Staff from 1999 to 2003, making significant contributions during his tenure. Notably, he was the first Naval officer to attain the rank of four-star admiral in the Nigerian military. His appointment as Chief of Defence Staff also marked a milestone as he became the first naval officer to hold this esteemed position.
Born in Okura, Lafia, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi leaves behind a legacy of dedicated service and leadership in the Nigerian Armed Forces.
