Gov Ododo Threatens: Sen Natasha Will Be Held Responsible for Any Violence in Kogi State
The Kogi State Government has issued a stern warning to suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stating that she will be held accountable for any violence resulting from her actions. This statement came after the senator defied a government directive banning political gatherings and convoys by holding a rally in Kogi Central on Tuesday.
The warning, delivered through a release by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of attempting to incite unrest in the region. The government dismissed her allegations that Senate President Godswill Akpabio, former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello, and current Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo were responsible for her struggles, calling these claims “reckless, malicious, and utterly false.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan had posted on her verified Facebook account that Governor Ododo, Bello, and Akpabio should be held accountable if anything were to happen to her. However, the government rejected these allegations, asserting that the senator was deliberately misleading the public to gain sympathy.
Fanwo emphasized that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions were part of a calculated effort to stir conflict in Kogi Central. He stressed that the government would not tolerate any violence or allow the loss of innocent lives due to the senator’s actions. He also mentioned that Akpoti-Uduaghan deleted the controversial Facebook post after realizing the potential consequences, but the government had already captured a screenshot of the post.
The Kogi State Government further criticized Akpoti-Uduaghan’s past disregard for laws, labeling her a “security threat” to the state. The statement highlighted her defiance of the state’s political gathering ban, which was implemented to maintain peace and security.
The government also refuted the senator’s accusations against Governor Ododo and other political leaders, describing her attempts to create controversy as unfounded and designed to manipulate public perception. The statement urged the public to see through her “deceptive ploys” and reject her false claims.
In its conclusion, the Kogi State Government reaffirmed its commitment to peace, security, and law and order, stating that no individual, no matter their status, would be allowed to disrupt public peace without consequences. The government called on security agencies to monitor Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions closely and hold her accountable for any disturbances caused by her inflammatory behavior.
“The people of Kogi State and Nigerians at large should see through her deceptive ploys and reject her attempt to manipulate public perception with outright lies,” the government’s statement declared.
