Tinubu To Nigerians: Forget What Rumour Mills Told You, I’m Very Strong

President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on a significant diplomatic mission as he departs today for the G20 Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi, India, following a special invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This momentous journey holds the promise of fostering economic growth and global cooperation for Nigeria.

During his visit to the G20 Summit, President Tinubu is scheduled to deliver keynote addresses at two pivotal events: the Nigeria-India Presidential Roundtable and the Nigeria-India Business Conference. These engagements will unite leading figures from the Indian private sector, Nigerian industrialists, and senior government officials from both nations, aiming to attract global capital and stimulate foreign direct investments in Nigeria’s labour-intensive sectors.

In addition to economic discussions, President Tinubu will emphasize Nigeria’s allure as an investment destination. He will outline his comprehensive cross-sectoral reform plan known as the “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which envisions a prosperous future for Nigeria.

Given President Tinubu’s esteemed reputation in attracting investment to Lagos State, he has garnered significant interest from industrialists seeking private engagements during the summit.

The President’s itinerary extends to bilateral meetings with a diverse array of world leaders from various continents, representing both G20 and non-G20 nations. These diplomatic interactions aim to bolster economic, trade, and investment partnerships for mutual gain.

The overarching theme of the G20 Summit, “One Earth-One Family-One Future,” underscores the imperative of global unity in addressing humanity’s challenges and preserving our planet. Nigeria, with its significant contributions to global GDP, international trade, and population, stands as a crucial participant in this economic powerhouse known as the G20.

Notably, while Nigeria’s potential membership in the G20 is under consideration, the government is actively engaged in consultations to assess the benefits and risks involved. This aligns with President Tinubu’s vision to democratize foreign policy and formulate policies that serve the nation’s long-term strategic objectives.

Upon the conclusion of these consultations, a decision will be made regarding Nigeria’s application for G20 membership. President Tinubu’s participation in the G20 Summit serves as a vital step toward this objective.

Accompanying President Tinubu on this mission are key officials, including Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy; and Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment.

President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria promptly after the conclusion of the Summit, bearing the potential for strengthened international partnerships and a brighter economic future for Nigeria.
